Vice Adm. James Bond Stockdale Funeral Hundreds of friends, family members and shipmates gathered at the U.S. Naval Academy Chapel to attend the funeral service for the former naval aviator, Vietnam prisoner of war, test pilot, academic and Medal of Honor recipient Vice Adm. James B. Stockdale, who died July 5, at the age of 81.
