| USS Iwo Jima Provides Support in Joint Task Force Katrina |

Iwo Jima is taking part in the recovery efforts after Hurricane Katrina, which devastated the city leaving thousands homeless and many dead. The U.S. Navy along with the Army, Marines, Air Force, and Coast Guard have been mobilized to take part in Joint Task Force Katrina, a humanitarian assistance operation in a joint effort led by the Department of Defense in conjunction with the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
