No. 100-M
MEMORANDUM FOR CORRESPONDENTS June 25, 1999

Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron (VAQ) 140, based at NAS Whidbey Island, Wash., is scheduled to stop at Andrews Air Force Base, Md., on June 26 during its return flight from Aviano, Italy, where it flew 717 combat sorties totaling more than 3,100 combat hours in support of Operation Allied Force. VAQ 140 is scheduled to return to NAS Whidbey Island on June 27.

The EA-6B Prowler squadron worked closely with Marine Corps, Air Force, Army and other NATO militaries during every strike of the operation as the only electronic countermeasures aircraft in the operation. The EA-6B has maintained full responsibility for the DOD Joint Jamming Mission since 1998.

VAQ 140 will host a media availability shortly after their 11:30 a.m. (EDT) arrival at Andrews AFB Hangar 14. Media are requested to meet at the hangar at 10:30 a.m.

Media interested in attending the availability can contact Senior Chief Petty Officer Jody Haubry, Navy District Washington Public Affairs, at (202) 433-6854.
