Allen, Dunford Visit Pakistani Military Chief
From an International Security Assistance Force News Release
KABUL, Afghanistan, Feb. 7, 2013 The current and next commanders of the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan visited Pakistan today in the latest in a regular series of engagements aimed at bolstering the ISAF-Pakistan military relationship and improving regional security, ISAF officials reported.
Marine Corps Gen. John R. Allen and Marine Corps Gen. Joseph F. Dunford Jr. -- who is scheduled to take ISAF’s reins Feb. 10 -- met with Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, Pakistan’s chief of army staff.
ISAF officials said the generals discussed a variety of issues relating to their mutually shared goals of peace and stability in the region and strengthening cross-border cooperation.
This ongoing strategic dialogue, supported by frequent discussions at lower levels, has enhanced the effectiveness of operations on both sides of the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, ISAF officials said.
