New Senior Enlisted Adviser Looks After Commissary Customers

Special to American Forces Press Service

FORT LEE, Va., May 23, 1998 – Army Sgt. Maj. Clevola H. Fedak has customer service and the needs of enlisted service members high on her list of things to do as the Defense Commissary Agency's new senior enlisted adviser.

"I'm getting involved with local organizations that look after the concerns of enlisted service members, and I'll spend time visiting military installations to find out what their concerns are and what enlisted service members need from their commissaries," Fedak said.

She started her new job in late April and said she probably won't see much of her office because she needs to travel extensively to do her job. Fedak is the DeCA's liaison with the services' senior enlisted chiefs and adviser to the DeCA director on customer service issues.

She previously was support operations sergeant major with the 501st Corps Support Group in Korea. She also served three years as sergeant major of the Materiel Fielding Branch at the Army Aviation and Troop Command, St. Louis, Mo.

Her commissary experience goes back to 1986 when as a sergeant first class she served in a commissary management internship at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. She later served two years as commissary officer in Bindlach, Germany. Those assignments were under the U.S. Army Troop Support Agency, one of the store systems consolidated into DeCA in 1991. From 1990 to 1993 Fedak was a commissary management specialist and logistics NCO in Heidelberg, Germany.
