Obama Employs New Media Tools to Keep Public Up to Date on H1N1 Flu

WASHINGTON, May. 1, 2009 In an effort to ensure the public stays up to date on the latest news and information on the H1N1 flu outbreak, White House officals are employing such new media Web and social networking tools as Facebook, MySpace and Twitter.
In his last weekly address, President Barack Obama called on government to "recognize that we cannot meet the challenges of today with old habits and stale thinking. We need to reform our government so that it is more efficient, more transparent, and more creative."
Obama pledged to "reach beyond the halls of government" to engage the public. With the H1N1 flu outbreak, White House officials say they are expanding how the administration communicates to ensure they reach the public quickly and effectively.
