Afghan, Coalition Forces Kill Insurgent, Detain 5 Others

From an International Security Assistance Force Joint Command News Release

BAGRAM, Afghanistan, April 18, 2012 – Afghan and coalition forces killed one insurgent and detained five suspects during operations in eastern Afghanistan yesterday, military officials reported.

-- Afghan Uniformed Police killed one insurgent armed with an AK-47 rifle as he attempted to charge the police on his motorcycle in the Auins district of Ghazni province. The deceased insurgent was searched afterward and was found to also have loaded ammunition magazines and a radio.

-- Combined forces detained four insurgents found emplacing improvised explosive devises in the Khugyani district of Nangarhar province.

-- Coalition forces detained one individual found to be a wanted insurgent in the Khowst district of Khowst province. The detainee was brought to a base for questioning.
