WASHINGTON HEADQUARTERS SERVICES (WHS)
The Director, Washington Headquarters Services (WHS), who also serves as the Director of Administration and Management, OSD, administers specified DoD-wide operational programs and provides administrative services and support to specified Department of Defense activities. The Director, WHS, has responsibility to plan, manage, and administer the following functions:
l Administrative support to designated DoD Components, including financial management and accounting services, civilian and military personnel management, personnel information security, office services, correspondence, cable, directives and records management, and other miscellaneous administrative services as required.
l Information and data systems in support of the decision and policy-making processes, including management information collection and reports preparation in areas including, but not limited to, procurement, logistics, workyear requirements, and economics.
l Information technology (IT) support program for designated DoD Components, including developing information management strategies and programs; assisting organizational components in developing program proposals, plans, and budgets for IT and in acquiring IT equipment; and providing or arranging for IT technical assistance and maintenance support.
l DoD reports, forms, and data elements and data codes standardization programs.
l Facilities management and associated support services for all DoD occupied space in the NCR, including office space, maintenance, repair and alteration of assigned buildings, custodial services, building administration, graphics, contracting, property management, concessions, and other support services.
l Physical security, law enforcement, and protection for DoD occupied administrative space in the NCR, and for designated DoD officials in non-DoD space, as required.
l Staff activities in support of DoD responsibilities for the Federal Voting Assistance Program.
l The DoD Privacy Program.
l The Freedom of Information, Mandatory Declassification, and Security and Policy Review Programs for the Department of Defense.
