| Commanding Officer 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment Lt. Col. David L. Odom, U.S. Marine Corps, and Abdul Majid, an Afghan National Police officer, discuss increased security measures being put in place in Delaram, Farah, Afghanistan, on March 23, 2009. The increase is in response to the police station in Delaram being targeted by a vehicle-borne explosive device on March 20. The Afghan National Police and Marines from 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment have partnered to root out insurgents in the Delaram area. Odom is the commanding officer of the ground combat element for the Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force-Afghanistan, which is helping to reconstruct and develop southern Afghanistan and provide security for the region's people.
