| Flight deck officers launch a U.S. Navy F/A-18B Hornet during flight operations, from the deck of the USS John F. Kennedy (CV 67) as the aircraft carrier steams through the Persian Gulf during Summer Pulse 2004 on July 20, 2004. Summer Pulse '04 is a U.S. Navy exercise where seven aircraft carrier strike groups will learn new ways of operating, training, manning and maintaining their fleet. This is part of the Navy's new Fleet Response Plan that will train the fleets to provide assistance in a national emergency or crisis.
