Joe is a graduate of Williams College (BA-1950) and The University of Chicago (MBA-1967). Following serving as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1955, with a tour in Korea as a carrier pilot, he resumed a career with Jewel Companies where he spent 25 years rising to the vice presidential level as senior personnel officer of Osco Drug, Inc. In 1976 Joe became President of Yoplait Midwest, a start-up company, until its sale to General Mills two years later.

In 1978 he formed Joseph E. Jannotta & Associates, Inc., subsequently Jannotta, Bray & Associates, Inc., a career consulting firm with 13 offices coast to coast, and served as its Chairman until it was sold to Right Management Consultants, Inc. (NASDAQ) in 1994; at Right he was a Director until 1997. Since 1982 he has been active in the career counseling industry and is a founder of the Association of Outplacement Consulting Firms International (AOCFI).

From 1995 to 2000 Joe served as a Co-Director with Dr. Ronald Burt (Professor of Sociology and Business Policy, University of Chicago Graduate School of Business) of the Chicago Management Council (CMC). CMC, a 501 (c) (3) not for profit, sought research projects that focus on addressing the human dynamics of a changing workforce.

In addition, Joe, until recently, served as Director of the Delaware Place Bank and as an Advisory Board member to Follett College Book Stores. Currently, he is Chairman of the Advisory Board to Shields Meneley, a Chicago based career transition consulting firm.

Active at Chicago State University , he is Vice Chairman of the Foundation Board, Chairman of Task Force on Mentoring, and a mentor to undergraduate students.

Mr. Jannotta's interests include his grandchildren, golf, military history and education.
