DEPARTMENT TO PARTICIPATE IN EURONAVAL 96
The Department of Defense will participate in the 1996
Euronaval International Maritime Defense Equipment Exhibition
from Oct. 21-25, 1996, in Paris, France.
The Department will provide technology booths and briefers
highlighting U.S. contributions in the area of standardization
and interoperability with U.S. allies and friends. Booths will
feature technology consistent with potential future contingencies
requiring coalition forces.
Euronaval is conducted biennially in Paris and is one of the
largest international exhibitions of naval defense systems in the
world. This will be the Department's first appearance. Although
a small-scale effort, the displays advance U.S. efforts in
maritime equipment and training. Ultimately, our involvement
expands U.S. engagement in global strategy and enhances allied
military preparedness. Military interoperability among U.S. and
European nations has become critical in maintaining an effective
deterrent and crisis response capability.
