MARSHALL CENTER INTERIM DIRECTOR ANNOUNCED

The Department of Defense announced today that Rear Adm. Marsha J. Evans, superintendent of the Naval Postgraduate School, will become the interim director of the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies at Garmisch, Germany.

Evans will direct the Marshall Center while a Department of Defense search committee nominates the next director.

Evans, a native of Springfield, Ill., said, It is an honor to become a part of the Marshall Center. It plays a very important role in furthering democratic principles. I look forward to working with the Center's faculty, staff and students in accomplishing the Center's mission.

Evans is replacing Dr. Alvin H. Bernstein who is leaving to accept a position at the National Defense University in Washington, DC.
