General Officer Announcement
Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates announced today that the President has nominated Army Maj. Gen. Michael A. Vane for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general and assignment as deputy commanding general, futures/director, Army Capabilities Integration Center, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, Fort Monroe, Va. He is currently serving as the vice director for force structure, resources and assessment, J-8, The Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.
