            Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates announced today that the President has made the following nominations:

 

            Army Maj. Gen. Francis H. Kearney III, has been nominated for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general and assignment as deputy commander, U.S. Special Operations Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Fla. He is currently serving as commander, Special Operations Command, U.S Central Command.

 

            Navy Rear Adm. (selectee) Jeffrey A Wieringa has been nominated for appointment to the grade of vice admiral and assignment as director, Defense Security Cooperation Agency, Arlington, Va.  Wieringa is currently serving as director, Navy International Programs Office, Office of the Secretary of the Navy, Arlington, Va.
