General Officer Announcement
Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates announced today that the President has nominated Army Gen. William E. Ward for appointment to the grade of general and assignment as the commander, U.S. Africa Command. He is currently serving as the deputy commander, U.S. European Command, Germany.
