General Officer Announcement
Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates announced today that the President has nominated Marine Corps Maj Gen Samuel T. Helland for appointment as the commanding general, I Marine Expeditionary Force; and commander, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Central Command, and for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general. Helland is presently serving as the deputy commanding general, I Marine Expeditionary Force; and commanding general, 1st Marine Expeditionary Brigade, Camp Pendleton, CA. |
