GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that
the President has nominated Major General Joseph E. Hurd, United
States Air Force, for appointment to the grade of lieutenant
general with assignment as Deputy Commander in Chief, United
Nations Command Korea; Deputy Commander, United States Forces
Korea; Commander, Air Component Command, Republic of Korea/United
States Combined Forces Command; and Commander, Seventh Air Force,
Pacific Air Forces, Osan Air Base, Korea. General Hurd is
currently assigned as Director, Operations, J-3, United States
Central Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Florida.
General Hurd was born March 22, 1942, in Mayfield, Kentucky.
