General Officer Announcements
Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates announced today that the President has made the following nominations:
Army Maj. Gen. Frank G. Helmick has been nominated for the appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and assignment as commander, Multi-National Security Transition Command-Iraq, Operation Iraqi Freedom. Helmick is currently serving as commanding general, U.S. Army Southern European Task Force (Airborne), Italy.
Army Maj. Gen. John F. Mulholland Jr., has been nominated for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and assignment as commanding general, U.S. Army Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, N.C. Mulholland is currently serving as commander, Special Operations Command Central, U.S. Central Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Fla. |
