General Officer Announcement
Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates announced today that the President has nominated Air Force Maj. Gen. Larry D. James for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general with assignment as commander, 14th Air Force (Air Forces Strategic-Space) Air Force Space Command, and commander, Joint Functional Component Command for Space, U.S. Strategic Command, Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif. James is currently serving as vice commander, 5th Air Force, and deputy commander, 13th Air Force, Yokota Air Base, Japan.
