GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that
the President has nominated Maj. Gen. John W. Handy, U. S. Air
Force, for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general with
assignment as commander, 21st Air Force, Air Mobility Command,
McGuire Air Force Base, N. J.
Handy is currently assigned as the
director, programs, Deputy Chief of Staff, Plans and Programs,
Headquarters U. S. Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
Handy was born April 29, 1944, in Raleigh, N. C.
