Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Gary Roughead announced today the following assignments:
Rear Adm. (lower half) Douglass T. Biesel will be assigned as commander, Navy Region Marianas/U.S. Pacific Command Representative, Guam, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Republic of Palau/commander, U.S. Naval Forces Marianas, Guam. Biesel is currently serving as commander, Navy Region Midwest, Great Lakes, Ill.
Rear Adm. (lower half) James F. Caldwell Jr. will be assigned as commander, Submarine Group Nine, Silverdale, Wash. Caldwell is currently serving as deputy commander for global strike and integration, U.S. Strategic Command, Offutt Air Force Base, Neb.
Rear Adm. (lower half) Thomas P. Meek, who has been selected for promotion to rear admiral, will be assigned as director, National Maritime Intelligence Center, Washington, D.C. Meek is currently serving as vice director of security and intelligence/senior intelligence officer, U.S. Southern Command, Miami, Fla.
Capt. Barry L. Bruner, who has been selected for promotion to rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as commander, Submarine Group Ten, Kings Bay, Ga. Bruner is currently serving as director, Operations Division, Office of Budget, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Financial Management and Comptroller/director, operations division, Fiscal Management Division, N821, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.
