Flag Officer Announcement
Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates announced today that the President has nominated Navy Rear Adm. Joseph D. Kernan for appointment to the rank of vice admiral and assignment as senior military assistant to the secretary of defense, Pentagon, Washington, DC. Kernan is currently serving as commander, Fourth Fleet/commander, U.S. Naval Forces, U.S. Southern Command, Mayport, Fla. |
