GENERAL OFFICER ASSIGNMENT
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Maj. Gen. William J. Begert, United States Air Force, for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general with assignment as vice commander, United States Air Forces in Europe, Ramstein Air Base, Germany. Begert is currently assigned as the director, Operations and Logistics, J-3/J-4, United States Transportation Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill.
Begert was born June 9, 1946, in Lewiston, Maine.
