General Officer Assignments

                The Army Chief of Staff announced today the following assignments.

 

                Brig. Gen. Kendall P. Cox, commanding general, U.S. Army Engineer Division, Southwestern, Dallas, Texas, to commanding general, Gulf Region Division, Multi-National Corps - Iraq, Operation Iraqi Freedom Iraq.

 

                Brig. Gen. James C. McConville, deputy commanding general (support), 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky., to deputy chief, legislative liaison, Office of the Secretary of the Army, Washington, DC.

 

                Brig. Gen. John R. McMahon, director, J-7, Engineering, U.S. Forces-Afghanistan, Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan, to commanding general, U.S. Army Engineer Division, Southwestern, Dallas, Texas.

 

                Brig. Gen. Michael A. Ryan to deputy commanding general, V Corps, U.S. Army Europe and Seventh Army, Germany.  Ryan recently served as director of strategic effects, U.S. Forces Afghanistan, Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan.

 

                Brig. Gen. John F. Wharton, deputy commanding general, U.S. Army Field Support Command, with duty as commanding general, Army Materiel Command-Southwest Asia/G-4, U.S. Army Central to chief of staff, U.S. Army Materiel Command, Fort Belvoir, Va.

 

                Col John R. O'Connor, who has been selected for the rank of brigadier general, deputy commander/director of operations, Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command, Fort Eustis, Va., to deputy commanding general, U.S. Army Field Support Command, with duty as commanding general, Army Materiel Command-Southwest Asia/G-4, U.S. Army Central.
