Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Gary Roughead announced today the following assignments:
Rear Adm. (lower half) Sandy L. Daniels will be assigned as deputy commander, Joint Functional Component Command, Space, U.S. Strategic Command, Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif. Daniels is currently serving as director, warfare integration, N6F/N83, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.
Rear Adm. Karen A. Flaherty will be assigned as director of the Nurse Corps, Washington, D.C. Flaherty will maintain her current duties as deputy chief Wounded, Ill, and Injured, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, Washington, D.C.
Capt. Michael C. Manazir, who has been selected for promotion to rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as head, strike and carrier aviation, N880, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C. Manazir is currently serving as commanding officer, USS Nimitz, San Diego, Calif.
