             Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates announced the following Department of Defense Senior Executive Service appointments and reassignments:

            Michael Lumpkin has been appointed to the Senior Executive Service and is assigned as principal deputy assistant secretary of defense for policy, (special operations/low intensity conflict), Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (Policy), Washington, D.C.  Lumpkin previously served as deputy chief of staff for operations, Department of Veterans Affairs, Washington, D.C.

             Jose Mayorga has been appointed to the Senior Executive Service and is assigned as deputy assistant secretary of defense (homeland defense strategy & force planning), Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (Policy), Washington, D.C.  Mayorga previously served as commander and adjutant general for the State of Texas, Austin, Texas.
