General Officer Announcement
Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates announced today that the President has nominated Army Gen. James D. Thurman, for reappointment to the grade of general and for assignment as commander, United Nations Command/Combined Forces Command/U.S. Forces Korea. Thurman is currently serving as commanding general, U.S. Army Forces Command, Fort McPherson, Ga.
