General Officer Announcement
Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates announced today that the President has made the following nomination:
Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Steven A. Hummer for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and for assignment as commander, Marine Forces Reserve; and commander, Marine Forces North. Hummer is currently serving as the deputy commanding general, Marine Corps Combat Development Command in Quantico, Va.
