General Officer Announcement
Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates announced today that the President has nominated Army Brig. Gen. Michael J. Lally III for appointment to the rank of major general. Lally is currently serving as director, operations and plans, U.S. Transportation Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill.
