Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates announced today that the President has made the following nominations:
Air Force Lt. Gen. Paul J. Selva has been nominated for reappointment to the rank of lieutenant general and for assignment as vice commander, Pacific Air Forces, Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii. Selva is currently serving as assistant to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff,Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
Air Force Maj. Gen. Stanley E. Clarke III, has been nominated for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and for assignment as commander, First Air Force (Air Force North) and commander, Continental U.S. North American Aerospace Defense Command Region, Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla. Clarke is currently serving as the senior defense official and defense attaché, Office of Defense Cooperation Turkey, U.S. European Command, Ankara, Turkey.
