GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Maj. Gen. Lansford E. Trapp Jr., United States Air Force, for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general with assignment as commander, Twelfth Air Force, Air Combat Command; commander, United States Southern Command Air Forces; and Air Force Component commander, United States Strategic Command. Trapp is currently serving as director, legislative liaison, Office of the Secretary of the Air Force, Pentagon, Washington D.C.
Trapp was born April 24, 1946, in Brookings, S. D.
