Flag Officer Announcement
Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta announced today that the President has nominated Navy Rear Adm. Matthew L. Nathan, senior health care executive for appointment to the rank of vice admiral and for assignment as chief of the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery and surgeon general, Washington, DC. Nathan is currently serving as commander, Navy Medicine Capital Area/commander, National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Md.
