General Officer Announcement
Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta announced today that the President has nominated Air Force Maj. Gen. John W. Hesterman III, for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general and for assignment as military deputy for readiness to the under secretary of defense (personnel and readiness), Office of the Secretary of Defense, Pentagon, Washington, D.C. Hesterman is currently serving as assistant deputy chief of staff for operations, plans and requirements, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
