GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Maj. Gen. William P. Tangney, U. S. Army, for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general and assignment as commanding general, U.S. Army Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, N.C. Tangney is currently serving as the commanding general, U.S. Army, John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center, Fort Bragg, N.C.
Tangney was born Oct. 7, 1945, in Worcester, Mass.
