Bernard Rostker, special assistant for Gulf War illnesses, will hold town hall meetings in the Detroit area Nov. 19 and in San Francisco Nov. 20 to address the concerns of Gulf War veterans. The meetings, sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, will be the first held since Rostker's 11-city town hall meeting tour in the spring.
"These meetings are an important part of our outreach to veterans," said Rostker. "A lot has happened since our last town hall meetings. We've now released case narratives on nine of our investigations and released four information papers; our in-depth study of the Khamisiyah event was released over the summer; we've met with many of our coalition partners in Europe and the Middle East; and President Clinton recently announced several new initiatives, including a new oversight board."
Both meetings will be held from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. local time. The Detroit meeting will be held at VFW Post 5572, 16736 Ecorse Road, Allen Park, Mich. The San Francisco meeting will be at the War Memorial Building, 401 Van Ness Avenue, San Francisco, Calif.
Veterans unable to attend one of the meetings can still contact Rostker via the interactive feature on the GulfLINK home page (www.gulflink.osd.mil) or via standard mail at Office of the Special Assistant for Gulf War Illnesses, 5113 Leesburg Pike, Suite 901, Falls Church, Va. 22041.
