Flag Officer Announcement
Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta announced today that the President has made the following nomination:
Navy Vice Adm. William E. Gortney for appointment to the rank of admiral, and for assignment as commander, U.S. Fleet Forces Command, Norfolk, Va. Gortney is currently serving as director, The Joint Staff, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
