General Officer Announcement
Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta announced today that the President has made the following nomination:
Marine Corps Lt. Gen. John F. Kelly has been nominated for appointment to the grade of general and for assignment as commander, U.S. Southern Command. Kelly is currently serving as the senior military advisor to the secretary of defense.
