General Officer Announcements

            The chief of staff, Army announced today the following assignments: 

            Maj. Gen. Frederick B. Hodges, chief, legislative liaison, Office of the Secretary of the Army, Washington, D.C., to chief of land command, Izmir, Stand Up Team, North Atlantic Treaty Organization, Turkey. 

            Maj. Gen. Stephen R. Lanza, chief of public affairs, Office of the Secretary of the Army, Washington, D.C., to commanding general, 7th Infantry Division, Joint Base Lewis McChord, Wash. 

            Brig. Gen. Kenneth R. Dahl, who has been selected for the rank of major general, deputy commanding general (support), 10th Mountain Division (Light), Fort Drum, N.Y., to deputy commanding general-support, U.S. Forces-Afghanistan, Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan. 

            Brig. Gen. Frederick A. Henry, deputy commanding general, U.S. Army Network Enterprise Technology Command, Fort Huachuca, Ariz., to chief of staff, Defense Information Systems Agency, Fort Meade, Md. 

            Brig. Gen. Thomas S. James Jr., commandant, U.S. Army Armor School, U.S. Army Maneuver Center of Excellence, Fort Benning, Ga., to deputy commanding general, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas. 

            Brig. Gen. Thomas W. Kula, commanding general, U.S. Army Engineer Division, Southwestern, Dallas, Texas, to director, Joint Engineering Directorate, U.S. Forces-Afghanistan, Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan.  

            Brig. Gen. Gary J. Volesky, deputy commanding general (maneuver), 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas, to chief of public affairs, Office of the Secretary of the Army, Washington, D.C. 

            Col. Walter E. Piatt, who has been selected for the rank of brigadier general, commandant, U.S. Army Infantry School, U.S. Army Maneuver Center of Excellence, Fort Benning, Ga., to deputy commanding general, 10th Mountain Division (Light), Fort Drum, N.Y.
