The Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus and Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Jonathan W. Greenert announced today the following assignments:
Rear Adm. (lower half) Richard D. Berkey, who has been selected for the rank of rear admiral, will be assigned as fleet maintenance officer, U.S. Fleet Forces Command, Norfolk, Va. Berkey is currently serving as deputy chief of staff for fleet maintenance, U.S. Pacific Fleet, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
Capt. Mark R. Whitney, who has been selected for the rank of rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as deputy commander, logistics, maintenance, and industrial operations, Sea-04, Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C. Whitney is currently serving as commander, Puget Sound Navy Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility, Bremerton, Wash.
Rear Adm. (lower half) Mathias W. Winter will be assigned as program executive officer for strike weapons and unmanned aviation, Patuxent, Md. Winter is currently serving as commander, Naval Air Warfare Center, Weapons Division/assistant commander for test and evaluation, Naval Air Systems Command, Air-5.0, China Lake, Calif.
Capt. Eric C. Young, who has been selected for the rank of rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as deputy chief of Navy Reserve, N095, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C. Young is currently serving as deputy director, training, transformation and technology, assistant secretary of defense, reserve affairs, Washington, D.C.
