The Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus and Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Jonathan W. Greenert announced today the following assignments:
Rear Adm. (lower half) Philip G. Howe, will be assigned as commander, Special Operations Command, U.S. Pacific Command, Camp Smith, Hawaii. Howe is currently serving as assistant commander, operations, Joint Special Operations Command, U.S. Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, N.C.
Rear Adm. (lower half) Matthew J. Kohler, will be assigned as director, J-2, U.S. Africa Command, Stuttgart, Germany. Kohler is currently serving as director, intelligence operations, N2/N6, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.
