General Officer Assignments

            The chief of staff, Air Force announced today the following assignments: 

            Maj. Gen. Brian T. Bishop, deputy chief of staff for the United Nations Command and U.S. Forces-Korea, U.S. Pacific Command, U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan, Republic of Korea, to commander, Spaatz Center for Officer Education, and commandant, Air War College, Air University, Air Education and Training Command, Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala. 

            Maj. Gen. Scott M. Hanson, commander, Spaatz Center for Officer Education, and commandant, Air War College, Air University, Air Education and Training Command, Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala., to director, operations, Headquarters Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill. 

            Maj. Gen. Randy A. Kee, deputy director, Politico-Military Affairs (Western Hemisphere), J-5, Joint Staff, Pentagon, Washington, D.C., to director, plans and policy, ECJ5, Headquarters U.S. European Command, Stuttgart-Vaihingen, Germany. 

            Brig. Gen. Peter E. Gersten, director, plans and programs, Headquarters Air Combat Command, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va., to deputy director, Politico-Military Affairs (Western Hemisphere), J-5, Joint Staff, Pentagon, Washington, D.C. 

            Col. John A. Cherrey, who has been selected for the rank of brigadier general, chief, concepts, strategy and wargaming, deputy chief of staff, operations, plans and requirements, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C., to deputy director, intelligence, operations and nuclear integration for flying training, Headquarters Air Education and Training Command, Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas. 

            Col. Brian M. Killough, who has been selected for the rank of brigadier general, military fellow, Council on Foreign Relations, Air Force Research Institute, Air Education and Training Command, New York, N.Y., to director, warfighter systems integration, Office of Information Dominance and Chief Information Officer, Office of the Secretary of the Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C. 

            Col. Jeffrey B. Taliaferro, who has been selected for the rank of brigadier general, principal military assistant to the secretary of defense, Pentagon, Washington, D.C., to director, plans and programs, Headquarters Air Combat Command, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va.
