GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that he has approved the retirement of Gen. Walter Kross, U.S. Air Force, in the grade of general effective Sept.1, 1998.
Kross is currently serving as commander in chief, U.S. Transportation Command and as commander, Air Mobility Command, Scott AFB, Ill.
Kross was born Oct. 3, 1942 in Bronx, N.Y.
