DOD Approves $13.2 Million Grant for the Tooele County School District, Tooele, Utah, to Replace Dugway High School at the Dugway Proving Ground

The Department of Defense announced today a $13,201,995 grant from the Office of Economic Adjustment (OEA) to the Tooele County School District, Tooele, Utah, for the new Dugway High School on Dugway Proving Ground, Utah.

The Tooele County School District will manage the $15,886,266 project consisting of $13,201,995 in grant funds and a non-federal share of $2,684,271 in matching funds to demolish and build the new Dugway High School. The school will serve 120 students in grades seven through twelve.

Funding for this grant is provided under the department’s Public Schools on Military Installations Program. OEA, in making these funds available, must give priority consideration to those military installations with schools having the most serious capacity or facility condition deficiencies, as determined by the deputy secretary of defense “Public Schools on Military Installations Priority List.” A multi-disciplined federal evaluation team, with membership from the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness, the military services, U.S. Department of Education, and OEA reviewed the school project to ensure the award appropriately addresses the noted capacity and facility condition deficiencies.

The remaining unobligated funds appropriated for this program to assist other local education agencies in addressing the most serious capacity or facility condition deficiencies at public schools located on military installations may be subject to future sequestration reductions.

Further information about similar grants awarded under this program may be found on OEA’s web site at www.oea.gov.
