GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Maj. Gen. Frederick McCorkle, U.S. Marine Corps, for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general and assignment as deputy chief of staff for aviation, Headquarters, U.S. Marine Corps, Washington, D.C.
McCorkle is currently serving as commanding general, 3d Marine Aircraft Wing, Santa Ana, Calif.
McCorkle was born on Nov. 9, 1944 in San Mateo, Calif.
