Pentagon Press Secretary Rear Admiral John Kirby provided the following readout:
This afternoon Secretary Hagel met with Czech Republic Minister of Defense Martin Stropnicky at the Pentagon as part of a series of recent meetings and phone calls that Secretary Hagel has had with European counterparts in the wake of Russia's intervention in Ukraine.
Secretary Hagel and Minister Stropnicky discussed ways that the United States and the Czech Republic can support ongoing NATO exercises and activities in the Baltic region. They also discussed Czech modernization efforts and the need to maintain readiness and capabilities to support the alliance.
Both leaders discussed the importance of continued support for developing the Multinational Aviation Training Center, which would provide training for Mi type helicopters that are still in use by many U.S. allies and partners.
Turning to Afghanistan, Secretary Hagel thanked Minister Stropnicky for the contribution of the Czech Republic to the ISAF mission.
Tomorrow, Secretary Hagel will join Minster Stropnicky and leaders from a dozen European nations at the Atlantic Council "Toward a Europe Whole and Free Conference" to continue these discussions on the importance of the transatlantic alliance.
