Flag Officer Assignments

The Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus and Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Jonathan W. Greenert announced today the following assignments:

Captain Brian J. Brakke, selected for the rank of rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as deputy director, Operations and Intelligence Integration, Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization, Washington, District of Columbia. Brakke is currently serving as chief of staff, Navy Expeditionary Combat Command Pacific, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

Captain Richard A. Brown, selected for the rank of rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as commander, Naval Service Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois. Brown is currently serving as commanding officer, Surface Warfare Officers School Command, Newport, Rhode Island.

Captain James S. Bynum, selected for the rank of rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as deputy director, White House Military Office, Washington, District of Columbia. Bynum is currently serving as executive assistant, N09A, Office of the Vice Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, District of Columbia.

Captain Peter J. Clarke, selected for the rank of rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as deputy commander, Joint Interagency Task Force-South, United States Southern Command, Key West, Florida. Clarke is currently serving as assistant deputy director for Regional Operations and Force Management, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Washington, District of Columbia.

Captain Scott D. Conn, selected for the rank of rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as commander, Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center, Fallon, Nevada. Conn is currently serving as director, N985, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, District of Columbia.

Captain Richard A. Correll, selected for the rank of rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as director, Joint Fleet Operations, N3/N5, United States Fleet Forces Command, Norfolk, Virginia. Correll is currently serving as director, Submarine/Nuclear Power Distribution, PERS 42, Navy Personnel Command, Millington, Tennessee.

Captain Dale E. Horan, selected for the rank of rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as deputy director for Operations, National Joint Operations Intelligence Center, Operations Team Five, J-3, Joint Staff, Washington, District of Columbia. Horan is currently serving as executive officer, United States Northern Command/North American Aerospace Defense Command, Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado.

Captain Mary M. Jackson, selected for the rank of rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as commander, Navy Region Southeast, Jacksonville, Florida. Jackson is currently serving as chief of staff, Navy Region Mid-Atlantic, Norfolk, Virginia.

Captain James W. Kilby, selected for the rank of rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as commander, Navy Surface Warfare Development Command, San Diego, California. Kilby is currently serving as deputy for Ballistic Missile Defense, Aegis, Destroyers and Future Surface Combatants, N96F, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, District of Columbia.

Captain Roy I. Kitchener, selected for the rank of rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as chief of staff, Strike Force NATO, Lisbon, Portugal. Kitchener is currently serving as vice commander, Naval Mine and Anti-Submarine Warfare Command, San Diego, California.

Captain James J. Malloy, selected for the rank of rear admiral (lower half),
will be assigned as deputy director of Operations, J-3, United States Central
Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Florida. Malloy is currently serving as
assistant deputy director, Political-Military Affairs for Asia, Joint Chiefs
of Staff, Washington, District of Columbia.

Captain Jeffrey S. Ruth, selected for the rank of rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as commander, Navy Region Northwest, Silverdale, Washington. Ruth is currently serving as commanding officer, USS NIMITZ (CVN 68), Everett, Washington.

Captain Lorin C. Selby, selected for the rank of rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as commander, Naval Surface Warfare Center, Washington, District of Columbia. Selby is currently serving as program manager for Advanced Undersea Systems Program Office, PMS 394, Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, District of Columbia.

Captain John W. Tammen, selected for the rank of rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as deputy director, Plans and Policy, J5, United States Strategic Command, Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska. Tammen is currently serving as deputy director, Undersea Warfare Division, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, District of Columbia.

Captain Kent D. Whalen, selected for the rank of rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as assistant chief of staff, Operations, Allied Joint Forces Command, Naples, Italy. Whalen is currently serving as commanding officer, USS CARL VINSON (CVN 70), San Diego, California.

Captain Kenneth R. Whitesell, selected for the rank of rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as assistant commander for Career Management, PERS-4, Navy Personnel Command, Millington, Tennessee. Whitesell is currently serving as director, Aviation Officer Career Management and Distribution, PERS-43, Navy Personnel Command, Millington, Tennessee.

Captain Charles F. Williams, selected for the rank of rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as commander, Logistics Group, Western Pacific/Commander, Task Force 73/Commander, Navy Region Singapore. Williams is currently serving as deputy for Surface Ship Systems Weapons and Sensors, N96C, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, District of Columbia.

Captain Jesse A. Wilson, Jr., selected for the rank of rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as director, Joint Theater Air and Missile Defense Organization, J-8, Joint Staff, Washington, District of Columbia. Wilson is currently serving as deputy director, 21st Century Sailor Office, N17, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, District of Columbia.

Captain Johnny R. Wolfe, Jr., selected for the rank of rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as program director, Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense, Missile Defense Agency, Dahlgren, Virginia. Wolfe is currently serving as deputy director for Strategic Systems Program, Washington, District of Columbia.
