GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Lt. Gen. John B. Sams Jr., United States Air Force, for reappointment to the grade of lieutenant general with assignment as commander, Fifteenth Air Force; and director, Fifteenth Air Force Air Combat Operations staff, Air Mobility Command, Travis Air Force Base, Calif. Sams is currently serving as vice commander, Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill.
Sams was born Nov. 22, 1945, in Charleston, S.C.
