GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Maj. Gen. John Costello, U. S. Army, for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general and assignment as commanding general, U. S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command, Arlington, Va. Costello is currently serving as commanding general, U. S. Army Air Defense Artillery Center and Fort Bliss, Fort Bliss, Texas.
Costello was born on April 24, 1947, in Pottsville, Pa.
