GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Lt. Gen. William M. Steele, U. S. Army, for reappointment to the grade of lieutenant general and assignment as commanding general, U. S. Army Combined Arms Center, Fort Leavenworth, Kan. Steele is currently serving as commanding general, U. S. Army Pacific, Fort Shafter, Hawaii.
Steele was born on July 24, 1945, in Atlanta, Ga.
